Housekeeper
Please note that this position has now been filled for the 2011/12 season
We have an opening for a chalet housekeeper for this coming Winter Ski Season, based in our Aravis Lodge.
All our staff need to be efficient, flexible and conscientious in their approach to work. To get the most out of a ski season you'll need to be prepared to work hard, be energetic and love working with people. The ski season is a fantastic way to spend the winter and although the hours can be demanding and long, your rewards include plenty of time on the mountain, meeting lots of new people; and our great benefits package.
Your job will include all housekeeping, room servicing and light laundry duties and ensuring our guests are well cared for throughout their stay. You will work alongside our senior housekeeper and will be sharing responsibility for the cleanliness and efficient operation of the lodge with her.
As we specialise in short breaks we have two days of changeover in a week - busy days when up to 18 guest bedrooms need to be cleaned and remade for the new guests. During these days you will be working to a tight deadline and it is often an intense few hours of cleaning and ensuring that the highest standards are maintained.
Other days are more relaxed and you are able to manage your workload and timings accordingly. Daily servicing of the rooms is required and the communal areas all need to be cleaned and presented, as well as light laundry duties carried out (washing towels, ironing pillowcases etc). A well organised approach to the tasks will ensure that you are able to enjoy plenty of skiing time during the day.
As well as the domestic side, your role will involve guest interaction - waiting tables and washing up for dinner a couple of times a week, on a rota basis, to assist the chalet host team. You will also be very much involved in the day to day delivery of our holidays through such things as evening activities (sledging, snowshoe walks) on evenings you aren't serving dinner. We all work very closely as a team.
You can generally expect to work until mid-morning, followed by the afternoon off, before returning for laundry tasks or dinner service early evening. This can vary on changeover days. A full day off is taken mid week. You will receive 125€ a week (after taxes). Your accommodation is provided in a comfortable self-contained apartment close to the Lodge, and will be fully furnished and equipped.
The General Benefits Package includes:-
- Accommodation: every team member will have comfortable, mostly ensuite and individual accommodation
- Lift Pass: full Aravis Region Season lift pass, which includes inter-resort ski bus travel and free day of skiing in 3 other Haute-Savoie resorts
- Food: breakfasts, lunches and dinner will be provided when working
- Competitive salary: 125e after tax each week
In addition, we offer the following benefits:
- Travel to/from France: minibus transfer from/to London, or flights will be provided
- Insurance: comprehensive policy covers medical, equipment, liability etc.
- Ski/Board Equipment: rental boots, skis, boards are provided if required
- Clothing(work t-shirts, fleeces, ski jackets, rucksacks etc) are provided
- Internet access: broadband access and PC for emails etc.
- Discounted Friends & Family rates: for ski visits
- Other benefits: such as discounted attractions / free ski lessons etc.
The season will begin on 8th December 2010 and run until Mid-April 2012
