Alpine
Mountain Biking Weekends
Are you a Bike Weekender?
The Aravis region around St Jean de Sixt offers so many possibilities
for mountain bikers; incredible views and varied riding in spectacular
surroundings makes this an easy choice for a mountain biking holiday.
As well as accompanying you, we provide excellent local maps showing
clearly marked routes of varying difficulty and with our own experience
of riding in the mountains you will be spoilt for choice of where to
ride. The neighbouring villages of Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz (both
3km away) operate ski lifts from June to September to help eliminate
unnecessary climbs if you're up for the thrill of the downhill routes.
There
are numerous mountain biking trails on marked paths starting from the
village, or a short drive (we will drop you off using our minibuses)
or ride away in La Clusaz or Grand Bornand. There is a range of difficulties
available, from more gentle rides through woods, pastureland and tiny
alpine hamlets, to more physically demanding ventures on technically
demanding single track and gnarly downhills. If exhilarating downhills
are what you are after, the day lift pass including La Clusaz and Le
Grand Bornand (available June to September) means you can enjoy the
pure joy of high-speed downhills all day - or until your arms drop off!
The region is a popular skiing destination in winter so think of the
untold downhill potential on all those ski runs! Although you will mostly
be focussing on what's underneath your tyres, there will be time to
notice the breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and other peaks around you.
If you
don't want the hassle of bringing your own bike over - no problem! We
have a collection of bikes for hire in our
bike room, here in the lodge. We treat them like our own and service
them regularly, so you can rest assured you're getting a quality bike
while you are here.
