Domestic Couple – Aravis Lodge – sleeps 35
We have an opening for a domestic couple for the Winter 2007/08 Ski Season,
based in our Aravis Lodge, sleeping 35. The chalet is located in the small village of St
Jean de Sixt, near the ski resorts of Grand Bornand and La Clusaz.
With over 220km of pistes the resorts are popular with our returning
British guests, but are still predominantly French, meaning you won’t
be based in a ‘mini-Britain’ as you are in some of the bigger
resorts.
All our staff need to be efficient, flexible and conscientious in their
approach to work. To get the most out of a ski season you'll need to
be prepared to work hard, be energetic and love working with people.
The ski season is a fantastic way to spend the winter and although the
hours can be demanding and long, your rewards include plenty of time
on the mountain side, meeting lots of new people and our great benefits
package.
The General Benefits Package includes:-
- Accommodation: every team member will have
comfortable, mostly ensuite and individual accommodation
- Lift Pass: full Aravis Region Season lift
pass, which includes inter-resort ski bus travel and free day of skiing
in 3 other Haute-Savoie resorts
- Food: breakfasts, lunches and dinner will
be provided when working
- Competitive salary: please see below for details
In addition, we offer the following benefits:
- Travel to/from France: minibus transfer from/to London, or
flights will be provided
- Insurance: comprehensive policy covers medical, equipment, liability etc.
- Ski/Board Equipment: rental boots, skis, boards are
provided if required
- Clothing(work t-shirts, fleeces, ski jackets, rucksacks
etc) are provided
- Internet access: broadband access and PC for emails
etc.
- Discounted Friends & Family rates: for ski visits
- Other benefits: such as discounted attractions / free
ski lessons etc.
We would require our domestic couple, or two friends, to have a good
eye for detail and list cleanliness and tidiness as strong points. You
will be a main point of contact for guests, so you must be able to build
good relationships with the customers and assist them in all aspects
of their skiing holiday.
Your job will include all housekeeping duties and ensuring your guests
are well cared for throughout their stay. You will work along side our
chefs who will be responsible for the running of the chalet kitchen.
However, your jobs will overlap and we would expect you to assist them
in their work so that the chalet is run efficiently and professionally.
You can generally expect to work a long morning, followed by the afternoon
off, before returning to your chalet duties for the evening. This can
vary slightly on changeover days, depending on flights. A full day off
is taken mid week. You will receive 110€ a week each. Your accommodation
will be a comfortable self-contained apartment close to the Lodge, solely
for your use, and will be fully furnished.
As a guideline the shared role would include:
- All housekeeping duties (Daily cleaning of all bedrooms, bathrooms,
communal areas, bar, etc.)
- Serving at table during all meal times and assisting the chef
in the kitchen during meals.
- Clearing up after meals, including dishwashing.
- Resetting the chalet at the end of every meal, ready for the
next meal
- Cleaning and bed making on changeover days and dealing with
all laundry that occurs from this.
- Meeting and greeting guests on arrival at the chalet, showing
them to their accommodation if they arrive during your working hours.
- General hosting of the guests. Ensuring at all times they are
comfortable and have all their requirements met.
- Liaising with the resort managers on a regular basis to discuss
guest requirements, room allocations etc.
- Additional tasks to ensure the efficient daily running of the
chalet – ie recycling etc.
The season will begin on 12 December and run until Mid-April.
All applicants will need a UK or EU passport or a French working visa.
