Driver/Ski Host
We have an opening for the position of Driver/Ski Host for the coming
winter ski season working with guests based at our chalet,
located in the small village of St Jean de Sixt, near the ski resorts
of Grand Bornand and La Clusaz.
With over 220km of pistes the resorts are popular with our returning
British guests, but are still predominantly French, meaning you won’t
be based in a ‘mini-Britain’ as you are in some of the bigger
resorts.
All our staff need to be efficient, flexible and conscientious in their
approach to work. To get the most out of a ski season you'll need to
be prepared to work hard, be energetic and love working with people.
The ski season is a fantastic way to spend the winter and although the
hours can be demanding and long, your rewards include plenty of time
on the mountain side, meeting lots of new people and our great benefits
package.
The General Benefits Package includes:-
- Accommodation: every team member will have
comfortable, mostly ensuite and individual accommodation
- Lift Pass: full Aravis Region Season lift
pass, which includes inter-resort ski bus travel and free day of skiing
in 3 other Haute-Savoie resorts
- Food: breakfasts, lunches and dinner will
be provided when working
- Competitive salary: please see below for details.
In addition, we offer the following benefits:
- Travel to/from France: minibus transfer from/to London, or
flights will be provided
- Insurance: comprehensive policy covers medical, equipment, liability etc.
- Ski/Board Equipment: rental boots, skis, boards are
provided if required
- Clothing(work t-shirts, fleeces, ski jackets, rucksacks
etc) are provided
- Internet access: broadband access and PC for emails
etc.
- Discounted Friends & Family rates: for ski visits
- Other benefits: such as discounted attractions / free
ski lessons etc.
The role of driver/ski host requires someone who is conscientious,
has a friendly and enthusiastic nature and is able to manage their own
time efficiently. You must be prepared to work as part of a team as
many of your duties will involve assisting other members of our staff
and running occasional local errands around the resort.
As a driver your main responsibilities will be to transfer our guests
to and from Geneva airport and the chalet - therefore a flexible, professional
and highly reliable approach is essential. You are the first and last
point of contact with the customer and first impressions count! You
will also be expected to maintain your minibus with the highest standards
of cleanliness and safety.
A full and clean driving license is required. Previous experience of
driving a minibus or larger vehicles is necessary and experience of
driving in winter conditions would be useful. Due to insurance cover
drivers must have held a driving license for 3 years, and would ideally
be over the age of 25, depending on experience.
The other aspect of this role is to ski with our guests up to 4 days
a week. Ski hosting is a great experience whereby you get to ski with
many interesting people so you must be able to relate well to people,
be able to share your enthusiasm of the mountains and project a professional
and knowledgable service.
Ski hosting gives you a great opportunity to spend time out on the
mountain skiing but the responsibility of the role is about ensuring
the guests get the most from their time. You must be an enthusiastic
and competent skier or snowboarder and have a good experience of leading
and managing teams and groups.
The role also covers an element of early evening and late bar work
in the chalet . This can be the natural flow from a successful day's
ski hosting and allows you to be a main contact and play a large part
in ensuring that the guests have a fun and relaxing holiday. Bar cover
would be on rota and would mean working late nights 2 nights a week,
but we would do our best to ensure this isn't followed by an early morning.
Your ski hosting days would typically involve the day skiing with
guests, followed by some pre-dinner bar work and the evening off. Driving
days would typically start in the afternoon and may run through to late
evening. A full day off is taken mid week. You will receive 125€
a week (after taxes). Your accommodation is provided in a comfortable
self-contained apartment close to the Lodge, and will be fully furnished
and equipped.
The season will begin on 10th December 2010 and run until Mid-April
2011
Applicants will ideally need a UK or EU passport or a French working
visa, although UK visas may be sufficient for the right candidate.
