Lessons - ski, snowboard or cross-country
It
is strongly advisable to organise lessons in advance. During January we
can normally accommodate most lesson requests, but in February it can be
quite full. Please submit lesson requests to info@karibuni.co.uk.
We work closely with Aravis Ski Concept, our local, friendly, English-speaking school of instructors to provide great value group and private lessons for all levels.
Small Group Lessons
Group lessons run from Sunday to Friday with 2 hours' instruction every day. These are based on small groups of up to 6 people of the same ability level. Beginners and Improvers often benefit greatly from the interaction amongst the students in a small group, plus it help to have someone else around to fall over with!
Prices
Lesson start times depend on your ability but all lessons last for 2 hours.
- 6 days of 2 hour lessons from Sunday to Friday - 140euros
If you arrive on the Saturday and found you’ve lost your ski legs – not to worry! We can often arrange for weeklong guests to join our shorter midweek group lessons, which run from Tuesday to Thursday.
- 3 days of 2 hour lessons, Tuesday to Thursday – 80euros
Group lessons assume a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 6 people. If we are unable to get a minimum number for a group lesson we may have to cancel the lessons at short notice or recommend private lessons instead.
Private Lessons
If you want the exclusive attention of an instructor we recommend private lessons. These are especially suited to intermediate and advanced skiers / boarders who will benefit from focusing on a specific aspect of their technique and style.
Prices (for 1 – 2 people)
- 1 hour - 35euros
- 2 hours - 70euros
(add 10€ per person for more than 2 people)
ESF lessons
It
is possible for us to arrange half day (2.25 hrs) or full day (4.75hrs)
group lessons for you with the ESF French ski school if you wish. These
groups may be slightly larger than our in-house lesson groups and may also
be mainly French speaking.
Prices for this start at 110euros for 6 x half day lessons and 170euros for 6 x full day lessons.
Private lessons start from 33euros for an hour (available Februray only) or 62euros for 2 hours (available outside February).

What Ability Level am I?
Beginners
Complete first timers, or those who have had a short lesson on an artificial/indoor slope. You are looking to learn the basics to kick-start your skiing or snowboarding and master the fundamental techniques.
Beginner lessons will usually take place from 9-11am so that you have plenty of time to put your new-found skills to practice over the rest of the day.
Improvers
Those who have skied before and are comfortable with green runs (nursery slopes) and have ventured onto easy blue runs. You are looking to build your confidence and be able to ski or board all blue runs and progress to red runs during your holiday. Improver lessons are usually from 11am - 1pm.
Intermediates
Those who have skied or boarded several times before and are comfortable on most piste levels. You are looking for the tips and advanced techniques to take you off the intermediate plateau and help you both refine the skills you already know, become more confident with bumps and steep sections and progress to tackling basic off-piste. Intermediate lessons will usually take place in the afternoon from 1pm - 3pm.
Please note that as fewer people ask for lessons at this level group lesson prices may not be available for individuals.
Advanced
Those
who can tackle anything on the mountain and are looking for particular help
with advanced techniques - moguls, off piste or park / air, for example.
Group lessons are not available at this level. Advanced lesson will usually
take place in the afternoon.

Location and Timing
Our lessons usually alternate daily between the two resorts so that you can explore both La Clusaz and Grand Bornand in your lessons.
Please note that conditions and overall group lesson demand means that all timings given are approximate and may change day to day during your stay.
