Additional Extras
We
are able to offer you the full range of optional extras to book with us in advance of your holiday to help
you enjoy your stay in the Aravis Mountains.
This includes your ski passes, lessons, ski hire, insurance and creche.
It is strongly advisable to reserve all of these features in advance of your holiday - and during the peak French holiday times of February it can be essential. We are able to add some of the various elements on to your holiday price (lift passes for example) and others will be reserved for you and paid upon arrival.
Although it may seem tricky to decide what you require so far in advance it really is worth while - and things like creche availability or avoiding lift pass queues can really make a difference to your enjoyment.
Lift Passes
We strongly recommend purchasing your lift passes in advance and we will have these waiting for you on your arrival. You can choose the Aravis Pass which covers both La Clusaz and Grand Bornand and allows you to cover the full 220km of the Aravis Region and access to the inter-resort ski bus. Alternatively you can purchase the lift pass for either village only.

Ski and Snowboard Equipment Hire
Whatever your location you can benefit from our very own ski hire service which is run out of our Aravis Lodge. We stock a full range of skis, snowboards, boots and accessories at competitive prices - please see our Catered Chalet Ski Hire page for more details of the skis we have for hire this season and their prices.
Alternatively - you will be able to hire equipment from local ski hire shops, all of which we have good relationships with. Offering the most up-to-date equipment you will have a good choice of gear and often be able to take advantage of a 10% equipment hire discount.
Lessons - ski, snowboard or cross-country
It
is strongly advisable to organise lessons in advance and this will form part of our booking process with you. Some general details are provided below to assist you in making your choice and working out the costs.
We work closely with a couple of local, friendly, English-speaking ski schools and instructors to provide great value group and private lessons for all levels.
Small Group Lessons
Week long group lessons run from Sunday to Friday with 2 hours instruction every day. These are based on groups of the same ability level. Beginners
and Improvers often benefit greatly from the interaction amongst the students within their group, plus it helps to have someone else to fall over with!
- 6 days of 2 hour lessons from Sunday to Friday = 120 - 140euros (depending on ski school)
If you arrive on the Saturday and found you’ve lost your ski legs – not to worry! We can often arrange for weeklong guests to join our shorter midweek group lessons, which run from Tuesday to Thursday.
- 3 days of 2 hour lessons, Tuesday to Thursday = 90 euros
Private Lessons
If you want the exclusive attention of an instructor we recommend private lessons. These are especially suited to intermediate and advanced skiers / boarders who will benefit from focusing on a specific aspect of their technique and style.
We work with a range of local ski schools in both resorts.
Contact
us for a list of these schools so you can book direct. An indicative
price for a 2 hour private lesson is between
75 and 85 euros.

Travel Insurance
Adequate travel insurance is important for any holiday, but particularly so for those involving skiing and winter sports. All Karibuni customers must have adequate medical and repatriation insurance, and have checked that this covers them for winter sports cover.
Karibuni will be offering insurance as an optional supplement to your basic package price.
We offer this policy at two standard rates:

For trips of up to 5 days = £14 per person

For trips of up to 8 days = £18 per person
This policy has been chosen by Karibuni for providing good value and meeting
medical, repatriation and winter sports requirements. Summary details of

Crèche and Nursery Options
We recommend use of the crèche in Grand Bornand with whom we have a good relationship.
The creche offers half day, full day and week long package options and is
located very close to the piste. They take children from 4 months up to
the age of 4.5 years. Please find full details

Other options exist for children of ages 4 to 6 and include a varying degree of ski lessons and tuition. Children should be able to participate in ski lessons from around 5 years old, and facilities in Grand Bornand do exist to mix ski play and more formal lessons.
