Lake District Mountain Biking Weekend
The best mountain biking in Cumbria can be found in
Whinlatter and Grizedale forests – the first and only purpose built single
tracks in the Lake District. Ideal for mountain biking weekends, you can bike
different trails every day. If you run out of purpose-built trails there are
plenty of forest tracks and bridal paths to tackle too – find maps at the
relevant tourist offices.
Lake District Mountain Biking Trails
The North Face, Grizedale
Offers 16km of varied challenges – from berms and curves to rooty downhills and some north shore and boardwalk too. A fantastic route, you need to keep your wits about you here!
The Altura Trail, Whinlatter
Ideal for mountain bikers with good stamina and fitness and plenty of experience to take on the optional black graded features. The north loop is more technical than the south. Both are approx. 10km in distance.
The Quercus Trail, Whinlatter
A lovely blue grade route ideal for mountain bikers looking to build confidence and experience. Nice wide tracks and some gentle technical features characterise this trail. Some boardwalk available to practice on too.
Lake District Mountain Biking Weekends
The Lake District is ideal for mountain biking weekends, although due to its distance from the French Alps – where we’re now based - we don’t get there very often anymore, sadly. However the mountain biking in the Alps more than makes up for that. Why don’t you come and see for yourself – visit us at www.bikeweekender.com or call us on 0845 557 5983.
Alternatively we work with several partners in the UK who know the mountain biking routes well in Cumbria.
