Henley Royal Regatta - 2nd - 6th July 2008
Join us with a group of friends or colleagues as we enjoy
a full day messing about by the river - and watching the premium
event in the rowing calendar!
An
ideal event for a casual office day out or a celebration with
a number of friends, we will make sure the day is one to remember.
The River Thames and the charming town of Henley-on-Thames are
transformed into one large sporting and social arena where the
world's best rowers battle it out - including the British Olympic
rowers who can often be seen practising or competing during the
week. The traditional length of the Course is 1 mile 550 yards
(2,112 metres), which was the longest distance of open water that
could be obtained on the Henley Reach in 1839, the first year
of the regatta. The start of the course is by Temple Island, we
are based at roughly the 1 mile mark and the finish line is by
Steward's Enclosure.
THE
ITINERARY
You arrive with your group at our riverside base in Henley around
10.30am, where we will welcome you with bottles of bubbly and
pastries.
After enjoying a drink and sitting in the sun outside our marqee
you will then have time to enjoy the rowing, or maybe wander along
the riverside taking in the party and picnic scene (and of course
the bars, shops and stalls!). Our riverside meadow gives easy
access to the river, where you can stroll along to the start of
the course - watching the rowers race past you on their way towards
the finish line.
At lunchtime, make your way back to our hospitality base where
you will enjoy a relaxed 3-course buffet lunch whilst chatting
with friends or getting to know your colleagues better, accompanied
by red and white wine or a choice of soft drinks. This will be
followed by a cheese board and strawberries and cream to finish.
Lunch
will be buffet style and will consist of:
-
A selection of Deli sandwiches on a variety of breads with delicious
fillings, including vegetarian options
- Cold meat charcuterie platter
- Canapes and finger foods
- Mixed leaf salads
- Rice and pasta salads
- Pastries and desert cakes
-
Strawberries and cream
- Cheese board
- Coffee and mints
The
rowing continues after lunch so you will have plenty of time to
enjoy all the action as well as the shops, stalls and bars during
the afternoon.
Finish the day relaxing with the papers back at our base, accompanied
by afternoon tea with scones and jam, after which you can depart
in your own time.
Although
we don't include transport in the package we can help you arrange
minibuses or coaches for your group if you require. Give us the
details of your party - number of people, departure point, return
point, contact details etc and we will get back to you with a
quote as soon as possible.
